(Source 1) As of June 11, it seems as if Azerbaiijan continues to have a robust contact tracing procedure in place. "Active case finding and event-based surveillance for influenza-like illness were activated in early March and any gaps in active case finding and event-based surveillance systems were assessed. The current surveillance strategy is based on the rapid identification and isolation of suspected cases and contact tracing. Surveillance for COVID-19 is conducted jointly by TABIB (Management Union of the Medical Territorial Unions) under the State Mandatory Health Insurance Agency and the Ministry of Health. TABIB is responsible for collecting the information about the new cases, which is being then transmitted to MoH for joint analysis of the cases and situation. Single unified database for COVID-19 has been developed to collect information. The Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology together with TABIB is conducting contact tracing." [Azerbaijan: Crackdown on Critics Amid Pandemic The arrests followed President Ilham Aliyev’s earlier comments indicating he would use measures supposedly designed to tackle the coronavirus pandemic to crack down on the opposition. It is another disturbing example of the government’s contempt for free speech and political critics. Arresting people for violating Covid-19 emergency measures may actually increase disease transmission if the authorities place people in crowded detention facilities where the virus could spread easily, Human Rights Watch said. Both regional monitoring bodies and national groups have criticized conditions in Azerbaijan’s detention facilities for administrative detainees as poor and inappropriate for the length of sentences imposed.] https://www.hrw.org/news/2020/04/16/azerbaijan-crackdown-critics-amid-pandemic
