She explained that this was previously done for other cases, including the index case where they traced from the airport and had to find all of the persons that the index case was in contact with while passing through the airport and everywhere else that the index case went and was in contact with persons so as to track those persons down and to ascertain if they were infected. web/20200521174747/ https://www.stabroeknews.com/2020/04/10/news/guyana/death-of-colonel-lewis-from-covid-19-triggers-contact-tracing/

Contact tracing ongoing. June 3 - PAHO representative noted that authorities are trying as it relates to effective contact tracing. He said that as the country’s case count currently stands at 153, the effective reproductive rate stands at 1.4, meaning that there is a possibility that those confirmed with the virus could have infected almost one and a half persons. “For every 100 suspected cases that you get, 20 will become positive globally, that means for every one person we’re doing contact tracing to about 7 to 10 people” he said. He went on to say that the health authorities have involved community health workers and even volunteers to assist with contact tracing.
